    Solutions for Black Stones

Black Stone Color and Luster Recovery Decision Matrix

Black stone recovery should start by identifying whether the problem is surface soil, scratches, chemical dullness, worn crystal layer, coating residue, or true color loss. Black marble, black granite, and black vanity stone can look similar after fading, but the safe recovery path depends on stone type and location.

Black stone conditionWhat to checkLikely directionRisk to avoid
Small bathroom floor with light dullnessConfirm whether the surface is only soiled or has shallow scratches.Clean, test a small polish area, and keep water recovery controlled.Using aggressive grinding when light cleaning and polishing can answer the test.
Large area with uneven colorCheck coating buildup, old wax, stains, traffic lanes, and stone type.Plan cleaning, possible layer removal, color review, and finish recovery as one workflow.Adding color or wax over residue that has not been removed.
Black granite vs black marble uncertaintyReview reaction to acidity, hardness, and polishing response before choosing chemistry.Use a controlled test area and keep marble-sensitive chemistry risks visible.Treating calcium-based stone like hard granite.
Bathroom vanity or wet-zone stoneCheck splash exposure, cleaner residue, cosmetics, and edge moisture.Use location-specific protection and maintenance guidance after the surface is clean and dry.Trapping moisture or residue under a protective layer.

Before choosing a black stone product path, collect the stone type, room location, wear pattern, previous coating or wax history, cleaner used, and photos from direct and side lighting. The goal is to match the least aggressive method to the verified condition.

    Solution Description:

    1. Use a Revontulet mini polisher and 13cm×25cm KGS Swiflex® CX ECO diamond dry grinding pads (400#-800#-1500#-3000#). Grind slowly and evenly with clean water. The slurry generated by grinding with each grit pad must be completely scraped off and cleaned. Finally, rinse with water and dry the stone with a high-speed blower.
    2. Cut 3M 4100 white pads (either 17-inch or 20-inch) into 13cm×25cm pieces by yourself, install them on the Revontulet mini polisher, and use Revontulet GR-1(Granite Gloss Restorer for Black Stone) to polish dark stones 2-3 times. This can restore the dark color and luster of the floor.

3.If the result falls short of the desired effect, you can pause after 3 rounds of crystal surface polishing and continue the crystal surface polishing process with GR-1 after 3 hours or the next day.

    Solution Description:

1.For black marble or black granite, use water grinding pads (300#-500#-1000#-2000#) for renovation and grinding. The crystallizing machine needs to be equipped with 1-2 extra weights. Grind slowly and evenly with clean water. The slurry generated by grinding with each grit pad must be completely scraped off and cleaned. Finally, rinse with water and dry the stone with a high-speed blower.

2.For black marble, directly use 0# steel wool and Green Shield of the Crystal Shield stone care series for 3 rounds of crystal surface polishing.

3.For black granite, directly use 3M 4100 white pads and Blue Shield of the Crystal Shield stone care series for 3 rounds of crystal surface polishing.

4.If the above solutions do not yield good results, use 2000# water grinding pads for renovation and grinding to remove the crystal layer, wax, or stains from the marble or granite.

5.Use Revontulet SP Stone Coloring Agent (Black) and tools like towels to apply the coloring agent thinly and with pressure on the black stone, and let it dry for 20 minutes.

6.Then use 1# steel wool and Green Shield for 1-2 rounds of crystal surface polishing.

7.For marble, further use 0# steel wool and Green Shield for 2 more rounds of polishing.

8.For granite, further use 3M white pads and Blue Shield for 2 more rounds of polishing.

    Solution Description:

1.It is recommended to use Revontulet Magic Black Stone Coating & Polishing Wax or other black wall polishing wax, 0# steel wool, and a handheld polisher for multiple polishing and restoration treatments, which is the simplest method.

2.If the wear is significant, it is recommended to refer to the above solution in Part II, following the procedures of grinding and renovation, coloring, and crystal surface polishing.

3.Protection measures: After completing the work in points 1 and 2, it is recommended to use Revontulet GT-9000 Stone Oil-Based Protective Agent or ILPA’s DRAI waterproofing agent for protection. Note: After using the protective agent, only black polishing wax (as per the technical content in point 1) can be used for subsequent polishing, and crystal surface polishing is not allowed.
